Happy Holidays War Eagle Band Boosters! It is so amazing how FAST our first semster has come & gone! And what an amazing Holiday Concert we had this past Tuesday! It is hard to believe we are beginning our last full week of the first semester.   We want to wish everyone GOOD LUCK in preparing for your 9 week and semester exams!  What a great weekend the ORHS band had at REGION BAND.  Our 52 students gave 3 outstanding concerts!   We are so proud of how well you represented our band…our school and our community.   In addition, we want to recognize two more students who were named to the All Region Band on Friday.   Congratulations to Michael Lamb and Indy Milligan…WAY TO GO TO ALL OUR MUSICIANS!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
#1- Please make sure that you have checked you student accounts in Charms.   All Fall Fair Share fees should be paid in full by now.   If they are not, please remit payment as soon as possible.  In addition, the TMEA percussion ensemble and the color guard winter guard fees have a deposit due this week.

#2-  HOLIDAY CONCERT- our holiday concert is on Tuesday at 7pm in the HS Auditorium.  We have changed the dress for the concert.   We are asking that students wear their “ugliest holiday” attire along with nice pants or skirts.   Please do not wear jeans, or tennis shoes.   We will be having a contest to name the student from each performing group with the “ugliest” attire.  You…our audience will vote that evening.   In addition, we would like our audience to participate by wearing your “ugliest” holiday attire!!!!!   It will be a FUN AND FESTIVE evening.

There will be a table set up outside the auditorium on Tuesday evening so you will have your last chance to purchase ORHS band & color guard gear. We will also have gourmet popcorn for sale at the spirit wear table. You know your family wants new ORHS gear as gifts this year!

CALLING ALL “TIDE CREW” HELPERS:
We need to wash the marching uniforms this week, so they do not stay “stinky” while in storage until next years marching season! Please Please Please plan to pick up uniforms this week, Tues-Thurs before school or after school (until 3:15pm) Please be sure you check out with a uniform officer. And then return cleaned & dry uniforms at the same times on Wed-Friday this week.

Hello War Eagle Band!!!!!    The holiday season has started and we are off to a busy start.   On Thursday the Full Orchestra opened the season by performing at the Holly Jolly Jingle Concert.  It was a fun evening and great way to begin December.

Audition season started on Friday with our War Eagle Band members competing in the first step of the Texas All-State Process.  Phase I auditions were this past Friday and Saturday and it is with great pride that we announce our War Eagle band members made school history by placing 59

For those students who advanced to Phase II, they are to report to College Park HS tomorrow Dec 4th at 4:30pm for second phase to determine chair placement. Students are responsible for their own transportation to/from Phase II auditions. Then Region Band rehearsals and concert will be this coming weekend, Dec 8th & 9th at Klein Forest HS. Your students will receive more specific information during class from the directors.

ORHS is HOSTING Phase 1 of the Region 9 Auditions for Region Band this Fri Dec 1 starting at 5pm and then starting at 2pm on Sat Dec 2. Students who are auditioning should know what day they are trying out, and there will be more details provided in class on Monday Nov 27. So parents please check with your student to know when they are to report for their audition day/time.
There are also sign ups in Charms for parent volunteers to help with concessions, and students will have  sign ups in class so they can help with hall monitors, judge runners, etc. This is a great way for students to earn community service hours or credit towards their letter jacket!

Happy Holiday Season War Eagle Band!
We hope everyone has had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break and that you enjoyed time with family, friends…eating great food …and even finding time to practice a little!!!!!   As we come back tomorrow, we will hit the ground running.  Our bands will be preparing for their holiday concerts and their Region Band auditions.   The percussionists will begin preparing for their TMEA concert performance and our Color Guard is in full swing with their winter guard season!   Please read this email and note all of the different rehearsal schedules…in addition do not forget to periodically check the calendar for up coming events.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
#1- We will be hosting Phase I of the TMEA Region Band Auditions on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.   In addition to having 104 of our students competing, we will be needing student and parent volunteers to help monitor the audition rooms and run our concession stand.  Parents may sign up in Charms to volunteer and students will have a sign up sheet in the band hall tomorrow.   This is a good way to earn letter jacket and community service hour credits.

COLOR GUARD CORNER:
Tuesday – JV guard rehearsal 4pm – 6pm
Guard Parent meeting 7pm at the 9th grade campus
Wednesday – Varsity Guard rehearsal 4pm – 9pm
Thursday – Freshmen guard rehearsal 4pm – 6pm
Friday- JV guard rehearsal 4pm – 9pm

THIS WEEK IN BAND
Monday – Percussionists:   tmea ensemble rehearsal and region band practice 3pm – 5pm
Full Orchestra rehearsal – 3pm – 5pm
